Acting Provost, Benjamin Uwajumogu (State) College of Education

Dr. (Mrs.) Nwachukwu Chinyere Maryrose is a seasoned educationist, distinguished scholar, administrator, and mentor whose career has been defined by an unwavering dedication to excellence in teaching, learning, and the management of educational institutions. A proud Nigerian and accomplished professional, she has built a reputation for her deep intellectual insight, strategic leadership, and passion for human capital development.

Her academic roots are firmly grounded in English Education, where she honed her pedagogical skills and scholarly abilities. Driven by a desire to make a broader impact on the educational sector, she pursued and attained advanced postgraduate qualifications in Educational Management and Planning. These academic achievements have equipped her with a rare combination of subject-matter expertise and administrative acumen, enabling her to bridge the gap between theory and practice in educational development.

Dr. Nwachukwu’s professional journey has been marked by a steady progression through the ranks of academia, each stage enriched with notable contributions to curriculum innovation, institutional reform, and the nurturing of a new generation of educators. Her work has consistently reflected a philosophy that education must not only impart knowledge but also cultivate values, skills, and a lifelong commitment to learning.


As Acting Provost of Benjamin Uwajumogu (State) College of Education, Ihitte Uboma, she has demonstrated visionary leadership and exemplary service. Under her stewardship, the College has recorded significant strides in academic programme enhancement, quality assurance, infrastructural improvement, and staff development initiatives. Her tenure has also been characterized by an inclusive leadership style that fosters teamwork, transparency, and mutual respect within the academic community.


Beyond her administrative responsibilities, Dr. Nwachukwu is an active member of the Nigerian Association for Educational Administration and Planning (NAEAP), through which she contributes to national conversations on educational reform, policy formulation, and strategic implementation. She is a passionate advocate for gender equity in academia, championing opportunities for women in leadership and creating pathways for the advancement of young female scholars.
Her scholarly engagements include research, conference presentations, workshops, and mentoring programmes aimed at strengthening the competence and confidence of teachers and educational leaders. In all these, she has remained a model of professional ethics, intellectual rigor, and dedication to service.


Dr. Nwachukwu actively engages in professional development and advocacy for inclusive, strategic educational growth in Nigeria as a member of NAEAP. She is passionate about mentoring young educators, promoting gender equity in academia, and contributing to the body of knowledge through research and other academic activities.
